Custodian

The Custodial Worker promotes a culture of safety, hospitality, service, honor, and respect among our homeless guests, our staff, and volunteers, for the purpose of furthering the vision and mission of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. The ideal candidate will be able to clean in a home‑like environment for a housing program for individuals transitioning from homelessness to permanent housing.

The essential function of the job is to ensure that the staff and residents have a clean facility to work and reside in. The ideal candidate should be able to work with minimal supervision and be motivated to identify areas that need cleaning. Due to the population we serve, the candidate should have a basic understanding of dealing with individuals impacted by mental illness, or a willingness and interest to develop such understanding.

• Complete deep cleaning and general upkeep of kitchen areas, common areas, and offices, including washing windows, cleaning baseboards, ceiling fans, the outside and inside of refrigerators, vacuuming, carpet cleaning, etc.
• Ensure trash and debris are cleared from around the building.
• Ensure agency vehicles are clean and maintained.
• Sweep and mop common areas, including kitchen floors, hallways, and bathrooms.
• Ensure the Center has the cleaning supplies needed.
• Complete any other duties as assigned or needed.

Ideal candidate will know how to use a vacuum, carpet cleaner, and cleaning supplies.

• Cleaning kitchens, common areas, and offices.
• Washing windows, cleaning baseboards, and ceiling fans.
• Cleaning outside and inside of refrigerators.
• Vacuuming, carpet cleaning as needed.
• Picking up trash and debris in the yard.
• Cleaning porch, agency vehicle, sweeping and mopping.
• Keeping track of cleaning supplies.
• Performing other duties as assigned or needed.

• Required:
  
  High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred:
  One year of custodial experience.
