Building Maintenance
The Function Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for campus departments and external customers regarding furniture, electrical, and event support needs, including accommodations for special requirements. This role coordinates the setup and execution of events both on and off campus, ensuring resources are delivered efficiently and effectively.
In addition to event coordination responsibilities, the Function Coordinator performs and oversees preventive maintenance activities across campus, helping to maintain facilities, furnishings, and equipment in safe and operational condition. The position supervises student employees, provides work direction and training, and coordinates multiple overtime event-support operations throughout the year to ensure successful event outcomes and exceptional customer service.

Principal Accountabilities- Coordinate communication with department personnel regarding the delivery, setup, and pickup of equipment and furnishings for events
- Develop and maintain event floor plans using conference center software
- Maintain records of equipment issuance and inventory levels to support operational and event needs
- Oversee scheduling and execution of equipment and furniture setup and removal for events and student accommodation requests
- Inspect, maintain, and coordinate repairs of event setup equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation
- Maintain working knowledge of campus electrical panels and provide support during event-related power disruptions
- Perform re-lamping and lighting maintenance in assigned buildings
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in construction and/or preventive maintenance in a commercial or industrial institution required
- Valid Ohio’s Driver’s License required
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with campus personnel, customers, and event stakeholders
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to facilities, maintenance work orders, equipment, classroom furnishings, and theater seating
- Working knowledge of building systems and general maintenance trades, including basic electrical, carpentry, and facility maintenance principles
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to effectively lead, train, and supervise student employees and other assigned personnel
- Ability to create and interpret event layouts, diagrams, and floor plans
- Experience with event setup and operations in a convention center, conference center, meeting facility, or similar event venue preferred
