Janitor

The City of Oakwood Recreation Center is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for community members, employees, and visitors. The Custodian is responsible for the daily cleaning and general upkeep of public areas, event spaces, offices, restrooms, and exterior grounds while ensuring all areas meet established health, cleanliness, and safety standards.

The ideal candidate is reliable, takes pride in maintaining a clean facility, notices the small details, and understands the importance of creating a safe and welcoming environment for the community.

Janitor Details:

• Temp-to-Hire position
• $ 17.50 / hour
• Full Time work available
• First Shift (Monday through Friday from 06:00am to 03:00pm)

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, offices, common areas, and event spaces
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors Empty trash and recycling containers
• Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces
• Restock restroom and cleaning supplies Set up and clean event or meeting spaces as needed
• Maintain cleanliness of entrances and exterior areas
• Identify and report maintenance or safety concerns
• Properly use and store cleaning chemicals and equipment
• Follow all health, safety, and sanitation procedures
• Provide courteous and professional service when interacting with community members
• Perform additional custodial or facility duties as assigned

Janitor

Qualifications:

• Previous custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or facility maintenance experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks without constant supervision
• Dependable attendance and punctuality
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift
• Ability to safely operate basic cleaning equipment
• Comfortable working around the public in a community recreation environment

• Applicant may be subject to a background check
• Pre-employment drug screen is required as a condition of employment
