This position provides routine cleaning of the buildings and grounds and provides maintenance assistance and support. Qualified candidates will fill afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts; shifts may change to best fill vacancies.

Responsibilities
  • Performs routine cleaning of the buildings, including water fountains, doors, kick-plates, walls, floors, switch plates, windows, and countertops.
  • Cleans restrooms, including sinks, toilets, urinals, mirrors, and floors.
  • Removes trash and restocks restroom supplies.
  • Ensures all areas are sanitized daily with the proper chemical compound.
  • Has the ability to understand and take directions from the supervisor; recognizes problems or potential problems and communicates findings.
  • Performs grounds‑keeping duties as needed.
  • Maintains entrances, entrance mats, and sidewalks clean and safe around the exterior of the buildings.
  • Uses proper personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, eye goggles, respirators, etc.
  • Interprets and understands Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), follows recommended dilution ratios, and understands proper storage and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Keeps track of inventory parts on hand for repairs and/or replacements and requests parts on an "as needed" basis.
  • Maintains, tracks, and is responsible for tools and equipment for availability and safe operating condition.
  • Assists with the authorized moving of office furniture, equipment, and other property as needed.
  • Performs inspections and identifies possible safety hazards using correct procedures.
  • Performs routine inspections of fire safety equipment such as extinguishers, safety lights, and detectors.
  • Understands and follows all safety procedures and regulations.
  • Attends required safety meetings and practices lessons learned daily.
  • Maintains clean, safe, and orderly work sites and individual working spaces.
  • Records and updates completed work orders and site maintenance logs.
  • Is responsible for the care, maintenance, and inventory of all supplies and equipment owned by the Division.
  • Has the ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Assists outside contractors and performs minor maintenance repairs as directed.
  • Carrying ladders and other equipment; does touch‑up painting and minor carpentry work.
  • Changes light bulbs, lighting ballasts, switches, receptacles, etc.
  • Performs maintenance on floors, carpets, and uses carpet cleaning machines and grounds‑keeping equipment.
  • Performs maintenance on air conditioning systems, changes filters, and maintains logs.
  • Assists in the maintenance of hardware, doors, windows, restroom fixtures, and performs minor carpet repairs.
  • Plumbing duties include unclogging drains, repairing flush valves, sinks, urinals, and drinking fountains.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork associated with maintenance duties.
  • Assists the Maintenance Superintendent with monitoring or adjusting energy, fire protection, and security systems.
  • Assists in the maintenance of all fleet vehicles.
  • Performs all lifting duties in accordance with safe lifting guidelines.
  • Has the ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of procedures and methods for cleaning, floor care, and handling chemicals.
  • Knowledge of procedures and methods for building, mechanical, and fire equipment maintenance or operation.
  • Skill in using power tools.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
