Parts Specialist

As a Parts Specialist, you'll play a vital role in maintaining and organizing our parts inventory, communicating with vendors, and ensuring the smooth operation of our fleet.
Key Responsibilities:- Purchasing parts within the repair budget and maintaining stock.
- Efficiently picking up and receiving parts.
- Ensuring the quoted price matches the charged price.
- Updating the vendor call list for smooth communication.
- Creating work orders for our mechanics.
- Keeping our daily work list up to date.
- Managing and updating completed work orders in our computer system.
- Issuing purchase orders (P.O.'s) for parts.
- Assisting in shop-cleaning duties as time permits.
- Learning about our fleet equipment numbers and descriptions.
- Maintaining parts inventory both on shelves and in our computer system.
- Maintaining records for preventive maintenance and informing the shop manager of necessary repairs.
- Compiling lists of required parts for on-the-road repairs in different areas from our work schedule.
- Assisting mechanics in part preparation and maintaining all histories and reports for trips.
- Writing up preventive maintenance sheets for all vehicles and equipment from manuals.
- Assisting in various duties as assigned by management.
- A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- The ability to read and follow written directions.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook programs.
- Strong multitasking and prioritization skills with great attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills when dealing with vendors, customers, and staff.
- A limited knowledge of mechanics and repair.
- The ability to work independently and set/finish tasks.
- Capability to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Exposure to loud noises.
- Occasional exposure to welding fumes, sparks, and gases.
- Handling ceramic, fiberglass, and/or rockwool insulations.
- Working in various weather conditions.
- Occasional exposure to volatile organic compounds (e.g., alcohol, paint spray, naphtha, etc.).
- The possibility of working in confined spaces.
- Occasional indoor work in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
