Position: Qualified Electrical Technician- A-Shift( (Days-Sun, Mon, Tues & Every Other Wed)

Overview

Panasonic Energy is expanding its De Soto, Kansas lithium‑ion battery factory and seeks a Qualified Electrical Technician (QET) to support 24/7 manufacturing operations. The role involves testing, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of electrical systems, ensuring safety compliance and plant reliability.

Responsibilities
  • Perform QET and electrical preventive maintenance to support plant operations, including breaker resets, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) confirmation, and Zero Vault Verification (ZVV) checks.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled electrical system maintenance and operate maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Identify and correct grounding and bonding issues and improve cable management, ensuring all connections are secure.
  • Clean and maintain control panels and junction boxes and verify positive‑pressure, clean, dry air systems in enclosures.
  • Provide high‑power troubleshooting support and assistance with grounding, bonding, conduit installation, and routing.
  • Assist with cable and wire pulls to ensure proper electrical system installation and maintenance.
  • Train personnel at the same or lower level in electrical troubleshooting and maintenance techniques.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams during planned system or line shutdowns to minimize production disruption.
  • Support implementation of industry‑standard compliant processes and procedures, and participate in audits and inspections by ensuring documentation accuracy and tool readiness.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or 2 years of related experience.
  • 5+ years of electrical technician experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting electrical and electromechanical control systems up to 480 VAC.
  • Strong understanding of electrical hardware, schematics, wiring diagrams, and SOPs.
  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E (must pass NFPA 70E exam and obtain CEST certification).
  • Ability to work 12‑hour day or night shifts to support 24/7 operations.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, and capability to work effectively across departments.
  • Strong documentation skills and working‑level English proficiency.
  • Alignment with Panasonic’s seven core principles (contribution to society, fairness, cooperation, improvement, courtesy, adaptability, gratitude).
  • Preferred: 10+ years of experience, ISA standards familiarity, hazardous location experience, 480 VAC panel installation experience.
Required Certifications and Training
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology).
  • Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent certification.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (preferred).
  • PECNA approved Technical Training (preferred).
  • Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) Certification (preferred).
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and full hazmat suit with respirator.
  • Respirator fit test required for functional area.
Physical Demands
  • Sit 10%, Walk 45%, Stand 45% of the workday.
  • Rare lifting 35 lbs.) Occasional.
