Job Summary

Schedule rotation is 7 days on, 2 days off, 8 days on, 4 days off, repeat. Example:
Tuesday to Monday, 2 days off, Thursday to Thursday, 4 days off, repeat.
Under general direction of the Director/Manager of Plant Operations or their liaison, the shift operator is responsible for operation, maintenance, installation and replacement of utility production and distribution systems (chillers, HVAC, boilers, electrical distribution, medical gas, fire protection, pneumatic/DDC controls, Energy Management, water chemical treatment, etc.) in a safe, effective, and efficient manner in response to or in support of customer needs.

Responsibilities include installing and maintaining dust barriers during job duties, completing work orders and daily time sheets, monitoring supplies and tools inventory, and notifying management of needed supplies in a timely manner by completing material request forms.

Essential Functions
  • Respond to house calls in a timely manner.
  • Complete operational logs, reports, corrective and preventative work orders.
  • Handle off‑hours shift and weekend calls by contacting necessary hospital staff, coordinating with hospital personnel or outside service companies.
  • Monitor hospital equipment—make and log necessary adjustments.
  • Assist or supervise contractors as necessary when making repairs or working in the building.
Pay Range
  • Between $28.46 and $37.72 per hour, based on experience.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years of documented experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of chillers and boilers in a 400,000 sq ft commercial, industrial, or institutional facility where the chiller plant capacity is 2,000 tons or greater and with a boiler plant of 40,000 lbs./hr. steam capacity.
  • LIC – 1st class Stationary Engineer.
