Position: Part Time Grounds & General Maintenance (Pool Position) - AIDB North

ABOUT OUR LOCATION

The Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind North Campus is located in Decatur, Alabama. The campus occupies a beautiful location that sits on Highway 31 in South Decatur. This is a recently created campus that, although under construction, is already home to a number of AIDB departments and staff. The expansion of programs in Decatur creates new opportunities and challenges as the campus is being created all while we continue to serve the local communities.

POSITION

SUMMARY

This role performs a variety of manual and semi-skilled tasks related to groundworks operation and general maintenance. Work may be assigned across multiple functional areas depending on operational needs. Position will assist craft maintenance personnel in addition to groundwork.

ABOUT

THE ROLE

You will work as part of the campus operations team and will make effective decisions and solve problems using sound judgment working with commercial equipment. This position requires individual initiative and teamwork, excellent listening skills, and physical ability and stamina such as frequent standing, walking, lifting, and /or carrying materials. This position will work in all weather conditions, work effectively and communicate with groups and individuals of all ages in a blind, deaf, and multi-disabled community.

You will play a vital role to ensure that AIDB’s campuses are kept to a presentable standard. In this hands-on role, you will play a vital part in ensuring that the AIDB North campus maintained to the highest standards of safety, functionality, and presentation. Thriving in a self-driven environment, you will bridge the gap between strategy and execution—collaborating seamlessly with administrators, managing daily work orders, and supervising external contractors as needed to keep operations running smoothly.

BASIC

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years accumulative position related experience
  • Valid Driver License & Ability to be insured by carrier
  • Ability to pass suitability requirements for employment
