Janitorial Technician

Position SummaryThis role involves ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and proper functioning of our churchwide campus through a variety of Janitorial tasks. The ideal candidate will support the mission and goals of our church and have experience in providing janitorial services with a focus on maintaining a clean and safe environment. This position offers an opportunity to work in a service-oriented, family-like environment where a "teamwork" mindset is valued.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and trash removal to maintain cleanliness standards for the church, its offices and the Greenforest Christian Academy.
- Conduct janitorial tasks such as restroom sanitation, window cleaning, and floor care including buffing and polishing.
- Use ladders to dust, wash walls, clean ceilings, dust and polish furniture and light fixtures, and wash and replace blinds.
- Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas. Remove stains from surfaces such as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
- Mix water, detergents, or acids to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications for industrial cleaning projects, including specialized floor care and deep cleaning procedures.
- Support janitorial operations by replenishing supplies and ensuring all areas meet health and safety standards.
- Operate cleaning equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to safety protocols.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate maintenance schedules and respond promptly to facility issues.
- Clean laboratory equipment, such as glassware and metal instruments, using solvents, brushes, rags, and power cleaning equipment.
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures, including wearing gloves, goggles or masks and following written or verbal instructions.
- Monitor building security and safety by performing tasks such as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliances to ensure hazards are not created.
- Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
- Remove snow/ice from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas by spreading snow-melting chemicals.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, push, lift, dig, haul, pull, reach, carry, grasp, squat, stoop, bend and twist the body while performing essential duties; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear.
- Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Physically and mentally fit to respond to emergency situations.

- Part‑time non‑exempt (15 hrs). Special events and large church gatherings may require additional hours.
- 90‑day performance and behavior reviews; at the end of day ninety (90) a summation of probationary review; thereafter continuous feedback; six‑month and end‑of‑year evaluations.
- A cleared, comprehensive background check and drug screening test.
- The Facilities Janitorial Technician is an employee ‘At Will’, governed by Greenforest Community Baptist Church Employee Handbook or the ‘At‑Will’ doctrine governed by the State of Georgia.
