Cusdial Lead - 2nd Shift
The Custodial Lead is a key leadership role responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, health, and operational readiness of the district's interior facilities. This position acts as the primary technical point of contact for the Building Manager. Responsibilities include providing daily guidance to the custodial team, managing large-volume inventory, and acts as the primary point of contact for the shifts event setups, ensuring all logistical needs for athletics and special functions are met.
This is a one-year stipend role.

- Assist the Building Manager in overseeing, directing, and supporting custodial and maintenance staff to ensure all work is completed accurately, promptly, and in compliance with district standards.
- Promptly communicate with the Building Manager regarding staff performance concerns, supply needs, equipment concerns, or facility conditions requiring attention.
- Foster a culture of accountability and excellence by upholding established safety, cleanliness, and performance standards across all assigned areas.
- Directs and monitors custodial assignments to ensure all classrooms, hallways, and common areas meet district sanitation standards.
- Acts as the primary point of contact for the shifts event setups, ensuring all logistical needs for athletics and special functions are met.
- Manages the tracking and ordering of custodial supplies and equipment, ensuring the responsible use of district resources.
- Leads the training of new custodial staff, modeling professional behavior, precise timekeeping, and efficient cleaning techniques.
- Ensures the proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals in compliance with OSHA and district safety policies.
- Conducts regular "walk-throughs" to identify custodial needs or safety concerns, reporting findings promptly to the Building Manager.
- Serves as the immediate contact for staff during shifts, reporting any operational issues to the Building Manager as they arise.
- Perform all Custodian role responsibilities.
Communicates clearly both in oral and written format with all constituents of the District 113 community. Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from constituency groups. Apply knowledge of current research and theory in a specific field. Establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with students, staff and the school community.
Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Calculate figures, estimates, proportions, percentages, and cost projections. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Strong technology skills, including standard Microsoft Office suite / Google Workspace, financial management, and data analysis.
Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of verbal and written instructions and deal with multiple abstract and concrete variables.
Build positive relationships with constituents of the District 113 community that includes, team members, teachers, school staff, administrative team, Board of Education, guardians, students, and private providers.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, write, type, speak, listen, and taste or smell. The employee is regularly required to communicate with staff and others. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climb onto ladders and uses hands and/or fingers, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls.
The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job. The employee may occasionally be required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach or crawl. This job has considerable physical activity and requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.
Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of a job. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, bleachers, scrubbing machines. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Specific psychological demands of this job include the ability to remain calm under stress levels associated with job demands, along with constant contact with students, colleagues and the public.
