Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Site Superintendent and daily supervision by the Maintenance Supervisor, this senior‑level maintenance person performs complex maintenance and construction work on park facilities, grounds, trails, equipment, and visitor services. Duties include executing repairs, enforcing park rules, supporting interpretive programs, preparing reports, and providing high‑level customer service while coordinating classified, hourly, and volunteer staff.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain park facilities and equipment
- Conduct trail construction and maintenance, including sustainable practices
- Perform minor repairs on vehicles, small engines, and heavy equipment
- Support resource‑management tasks and interpretive programs
- Prepare and complete required reports and documentation
- Provide customer service and maintain visitor relations
- Coordinate with natural‑area staff, regional specialists, and TPWD personnel
- Operate state vehicles when needed and travel up to 5% of the time, with possible overnight stays
- Adhere to safety and dress standards and perform manual labor up to 100 lbs
- High School diploma or GED
- Four years of facility, road, equipment, or grounds maintenance experience
- Valid Texas driver’s license with clean driving record
- Experience in construction, repair, and maintenance fields
- Expertise with vehicles, small engines, and heavy equipment
- Customer service and public‑relations experience
- Knowledge of natural‑resource management and trail construction
- Leadership experience with volunteers
- Basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and janitorial repairs
- Understanding of well repair, solar, and electric systems
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Independent judgment and decision‑making
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Manual dexterity and ability to lift up to 100 lbs
- Operational knowledge of hand and power tools, mowers, chainsaws, tractors, and generators
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and rugged settings
- Public park environment with overnight camping and day use
- 40‑hour work week with irregular hours (non‑8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.)
- Occasional overtime and travel (5%) with possible overnight stays
- Manual labor including lifting up to 100 lbs
- Work in extreme temperatures in remote locations
- Compliance with TPWD safety, dress, and grooming standards
$4,137.06 per month (Grade 16)
