Position Summary: Must have excellent people skills, be self-motivated and demonstrate the ability to perform custodial duties under the direction of the Chief Custodian. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe interior in various buildings on campus and assist staff with various requests to allow for smooth operation of education services.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities- Vacuum, mop, sweep, all floor areas including classrooms, offices, restrooms, etc.
- Sanitize, disinfect and clean all restrooms to include toilets, urinals, sinks, mirrors, partitions, dispensers, etc.
- Perform crossing guard (car line) duty as required.
- Restock supplies as necessary to include paper towels, toilet paper, etc.
- Perform general cleanup of all interior and exterior areas of the buildings as directed.
- Complete non-routine cleaning as directed by the Chief Custodian.
- Manage routine upkeep of exterior areas, green spaces and parking lot.
- Empty garbage and recycling daily and prepare for weekly pick-up.
- Assists outside organizations, using school facilities, as assigned.
- Handle emergency cleaning and upkeep requests.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work areas and immediately report conditions to the Chief Custodian.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the chief custodian and other school administrators as designated by the Head of School.
- Knowledge of institutional and/or commercial cleaning duties.
- Knowledge of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent lifting, carrying pushing or pulling 20 to 50 pounds and constantly moving items correctly and safely.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching and reaching.
- Frequent handling or various sized and weights of items.
- High School Diploma or equivalent;
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals;
- Ability to communicate effectively;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community;
- Demonstrate regularity in attendance and promptness in reporting;
- Knowledgeable of cleaning equipment and chemicals;
- Reliable transportation;
- Valid Driver's license;
- Neat and clean appearance.
