Part‑time Day Custodian
Under the direction of the chief custodian, the custodian will maintain a safe, healthy, and clean building. Duties include cleaning, minor and preventive maintenance, snow removal, and grounds work. This is a 12‑month position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Cleaning tasks: sweeping, mopping, waxing, buffing, vacuuming; cleaning walls, ceilings, windows, furniture, lights, bathrooms.
- Carpet care: shampooing carpets.
- Grounds maintenance: shoveling snow, removing ice, cutting grass, trimming.
- Operational duties: opening/closing building, securing alarm system, receiving and unloading deliveries, delivering supplies, setting up meeting rooms.
- Minor maintenance: replacing light bulbs, painting, assisting with boilers and heating equipment, caring for lawn mowers and related equipment.
- Vehicle operation: driving cars/trucks to pick up equipment and supplies.
- Other custodial duties as assigned by the chief custodian or building supervisor.
- High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
- Valid Class D Driver’s License with a good driving record
- Knowledge of cleaning materials and procedures
- Ability to perform minor maintenance
- Ability to follow oral or written directions
- Cooperative team‑work skills with teachers, students, administrators, and the public
- Good physical health and strength for lifting and cleaning duties
Regular talking and exchanging ideas verbally, normal cognitive abilities, sustained moderate physical effort, movement of objects weighing 40‑50 pounds, continuous standing.
Physical and Environmental ConditionsWork is primarily performed in a school kitchen and cafeteria environment.
Pre‑Employment Requirements- Criminal background check and tuberculosis test required for all employees.
