Night Custodial Supervisor

Position Overview

Night Custodian Supervisor – 3:30 pm to 11:30 pm (Full‑time, 12‑month contract) at Cantwell’s Bridge Middle School (Main location) and Odessa High School.

Provide a safe, healthy and clean building. Act as lead worker, coordinate assignments from the Chief Custodian, perform routine cleaning and minor maintenance, manage snow removal and grounds work, and enforce state rules and district policies.

• Coordinate work activities and assignments from the Chief Custodian to ensure safe and efficient completion.
• Perform sweeping, mopping, waxing, buffing, vacuuming, cleaning walls, ceilings, windows, furniture, lights, bathrooms, and other areas.
• Clean carpets, rugs, upholstered furniture, blinds, walls, ceilings, woodwork, doors, and sills.
• Remove graffiti, clean glass, replace light bulbs, set up and break down chairs, tables, and equipment for meetings and functional rooms.
• Clear snow and ice from entrances and walkways; spread sand and melting chemicals.
• Perform grounds‑keeping duties, clear debris, maintain grounds.
• Receive deliveries, unload trucks, store supplies, and deliver supplies to classrooms and other areas.
• Maintain building security: check and secure the alarm system and lock doors at shift start and end.
• Perform minor maintenance such as replacing bulbs, painting, cleaning boilers, and assisting with lawn mowers, trimmers, vacuum cleaners, and buffers.
• Drive vehicles to pick up equipment, supplies, parts, and mail.
• Assist with cleaning of the school kitchen and cafeteria environment.
• Follow oral or written directions and work cooperatively with staff and the public.

• High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
• Valid Class D Driver’s License with a good driving record.
• Knowledge of cleaning materials, methods, and equipment.
• Ability to perform minor maintenance.
• Strong ability to follow oral or written directions.
• Capacity to work cooperatively with teachers, students, administrators, coworkers, and the public.
• Good physical health and strength to lift, move, and clean.

Regularly talking, conveying detailed instructions; normal cognitive abilities; sustained moderate physical effort; movement of objects 40–50 pounds; continuous standing.

Work primarily in a school kitchen and cafeteria environment.

• Criminal background check and tuberculosis test.
• Required identification, employment‑eligibility verification, I‑9 completion, and Delaware Child Protection Registry documentation.
