The Delaware County District Library has an opening for a full-time Facilities Specialist. The desired applicant will have basic knowledge of building maintenance and repair methods/practices (i.e., HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, safety practices, cleaning methods, and materials handling). The pay range for this non-exempt position is $21.00 - $25.00 per hour and depends on qualifications. This position must have the ability to work mornings, days, evenings, weekends, and emergencies, as needed.

Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the Facilities and Administrative Support Coordinator, the Facilities Specialist oversees the general maintenance and upkeep of all library facilities, grounds, and furnishings.
Minimum Qualifications- High School diploma or equivalency is required.
- One to two years related experience or any equivalent combination of experience which provide the required knowledge, skills, and ability is required.
- Previous maintenance experience is required.
- Ability to work days, evenings, and weekends is required. The schedule may change as the needs of the Library change.
- Ability to work on short notice for Library emergencies is required.
- Ability to travel between Library locations as needed is required.
- Regular and predictable physical attendance is required.
- Must possess a valid State of Ohio Driver’s License and acceptable driving record, with constant maintenance of eligibility to operate motor vehicles under the acceptability stands of the vehicle liability insurance carrier of the Library.
- Must satisfactorily complete a background investigation.
- Basic knowledge of building maintenance, repair methods, and practices (i.e., HVAC systems, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting and other related areas; safety practices, cleaning method, materials handling).

- Maintains safety, general maintenance, and upkeep of all library buildings, grounds, and furnishings.
- Coordinates service of contract and maintenance workers.
- Performs basic and preventative maintenance tasks (i.e., mechanical and electrical equipment, carpentry, performing minor plumbing work, installing equipment and lights, inspecting library buildings and equipment).
- Performs snow and ice removal as needed.
- Monitors condition and performance of Facilities Department vehicles and reports any issues to Facilities and Administrative Support Manager.
- Stays up-to-date with new developments, best practices, participates in continuing education events, and attends appropriate conferences/trainings.
- Participates in the state library association and/or other professional organization as assigned.
- Attends regular staff and committee meetings as assigned.
- Supports and implements the Library’s Mission Statement, Vision Statement, Strategic Plan, and Customer Service Expectations.
- Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.

- All Library positions require some or varying levels of physical activity, including standing, walking, reaching, squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing, and grasping.
- Ability to sit/stand and use computer for extended periods and standard office equipment daily.
- Ability to sit in, work in, and drive Library vehicles for extended periods daily.
- Majority of work performed in a public building office environment.
- Majority of work performed includes hazards (i.e., use of power tools, equipment, chemicals).
- Ability to work and drive in adverse weather conditions.
- Requires driving and operating Library vehicles, including Library Bookmobile.
- Employees should be able to lift and/or carry 30 lbs. consistently and 75 lbs. occasionally.
- Requires frequent climbing of ladders and overhead work.
- Requires travel between Library locations as needed.
- Requires ability for extended hours as needed.
- Requires occasional evening and/or weekends as needed.
- Requires periodic participation and attendance at events and trainings.
