Maintenance Tech - Parks Department

City of Deming Job Vacancy Announcement Maintenance Tech I, Range 6, $15.00/hr.

The City of Deming is seeking qualified applicants for regular, full time Maintenance Tech I, located in the Parks Departments. Position requires a valid State of New Mexico driver's license and good driving record; previous department-related work experience is preferred.

This is unskilled and limited semi-skilled manual work. Employees in this class perform work of a manual nature that does require some degree of manipulative skill or previous experience to do an effective job. Work is usually generally supervised, as employee is expected to have sufficient training and experience to operate independently. Employee may occasionally operate trucks, heavy equipment, or other machinery, or perform semi-skilled tasks.

Individuals offered employment will be required to pass a pre-employment physical, drug test and background check.

Applicant shall possess:

• Valid State of NM Driver’s License and good driving record.
• HS Diploma or GED
• Knowledge of the care and use of standard hand tools
• Ability to read, understand and follow specific written and oral instructions.
• Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions.
• Some experience in performing heavy manual work (desired).
