Position

Experienced SUE Field Technician – Englewood, Colorado Office

Qualifications
  • Mid‑level experience in Air and Hydro Vacuum Excavation (SUE Locating) (preferred)
  • Mid‑level understanding of utility locating methods: buried telephone, fiber optic cable, coaxial cable, power (electric), gas, water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, etc. (preferred)
  • Mid‑level experience in reading and interpreting DOT, municipal, and other plans/prints to identify type and size of underground utilities
  • Vac truck experience (preferred)
  • Valid Driver’s License required;
    Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) a plus
  • Survey experience a plus
  • Motivation to work in a dynamic environment with strict deadlines
  • Interest in developing relationships with clients, partners, and local organizations to remain a trusted resource in the community
Essential Functions
  • Locate, designate, and mark underground utilities within prescribed quality/accuracy limits
  • Perform Level A (QL‑A) SUE locating via nondestructive techniques with high‑pressure air/hydro wand, concrete saws, core drills, and vacuum hose systems
  • Perform Level B (QL‑B) SUE designating via electromagnetic equipment and, when included, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) scanning; document estimated electronic depth readings
  • Document site conditions and SUE information via photographs and/or video; perform video inspections of sewers when necessary
  • May perform Level C (QL‑C) and Level D (QL‑D) SUE, including surveying visible utilities, manholes, valve boxes, and obtaining existing utility records
  • Record accurate documentation/sketches of underground utility field data using CF’s online GIS‑based mapping software
  • Operate large profile vehicles with/without attached trailers and perform vehicle maintenance
  • Report punctually and be dependable with attendance
  • May cross‑train to perform other field services (Survey, Telecommunications, etc.)
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned
Physical/Cognitive Requirements
  • Indoor/Outdoor: approx. 80% outdoor; tasks include extended sitting and standing, mobility, head/neck movement, repetitive motion, arm movement, object handling, cognitive tasks (attention, comprehension, reasoning), physical abilities (strength, coordination, endurance), alertness, lifting up to 100 lbs, walking/climbing long distances, outdoor exposure
  • Safety: requires personal protective equipment and use of pneumatic, hand and power tools; driving large pickups with trailers; possible watercraft operation
Expected Work Hours
  • Full‑time: generally 40 hrs per week; hours may fluctuate including overtime
  • Standard operating hours Monday‑Friday 7:30 AM‑4:30 PM CST; 1‑hour unpaid lunch break; hours may differ by project workload, primarily for field staff
Work Location Flexibility

This position requires in‑person work and is ineligible for remote work.
