Description of Job

This position works the day shift 7:30 a.m.

- 4:00 p.m. Assignments may include keeping exterior walkways clear of debris and snow. Critical employees can be expected to work and/or remain at their worksite in delayed start, early release, or closure situations. This position independently performs a range of tasks related to maintaining building interiors and furnishings in Capitol Complex managed facilities.

A summary of the duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Custodian/Housekeeping Services – Office and common area cleaning including trash removal, dusting, vacuuming, window cleaning, multi‑surface cleaning, brass cleaning and polishing, hard‑surface floor cleaning and recycling. Restrooms cleaning including trash removal, fixtures, stocking supplies, sweeping and mopping.
  • Emergency response and other duties as assigned – Position may be called upon for additional duties that may include snow removal, emergency response and assistance (such as a flooded floor), inventory counts, meetings, and assisting their trades with various projects.
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least six (6) months of experience in custodian/janitorial work.
Conditions of Employment
  • Shift Work: works 7:30 a.m.

    - 4:00 p.m.
  • Physical Demands: exert up to 100 lbs of force occasionally and / or up to 50 lbs of force frequently to move objects.
  • A pre‑employment criminal background check will be conducted as part of the selection process.

Appeal Rights
