Temporary Positions – Pay $24.00/hour
These seasonal positions run for up to 9 months and pay $24.00 per hour. Employment begins between April and September, with an Final date to receive applications of 01/31/26.

Position:Recreation Ranger – Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area (AHRA)
Responsibilities include overall management, maintenance, customer service, trail maintenance and construction, resource management, and campground operations. Primarily focused on managing dispersed camping areas. Educates the public on special camping regulations and Leave No Trace principles, and mitigates recreation impacts such as litter, social trails, and camping sprawl.
Secondary Position:Count Crew (Customer Service)
Assists with river services. Responsibilities include accurate counting of private boats, collecting spot checks from commercial outfitters, verifying use on rationed days, collecting trash, driving state vehicles safely, transmitting information via radios, providing public information, maintaining clean tally sheets, data entry, and other duties as assigned. Requires working outdoors ~80% of the time and indoors ~20%.
All positions are 40 hours per week; school schedules may be accommodated.
Requirements – All Positions- May be required to pass a drug test prior to hire.
- Must operate a motorized vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must be willing to work outdoors in inclement weather.
- Must be able to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- First Aid and CPR certifications may be required.
- Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
This role requires significant use of arms and legs, including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
Driver ComplianceWorkers expected to drive state-owned vehicles must maintain a safe driving record and a valid license. Motor vehicle records will be reviewed for workers who have an assigned fleet vehicle, are required to operate a vehicle as part of the position, or use a pool fleet vehicle.
