Temporary Position (9 months or less)

Pay: $20 - $21 per hour. Employment starts 04/25/2026 and ends 10/31/2026.

Lead Inspector Responsibilities
  • Perform boat inspector and decontaminator responsibilities according to state regulations and standard protocols at Antero Reservoir.
  • Provide on‑job training to inspection staff, create schedules, ensure all shifts are covered during operational hours, collect and verify accurate time‑keeping records for payroll purposes.
  • Work with area work lead to resolve challenges with staff and customers, and recommend hiring/firing of employees to area work lead.
  • Ensure inspection station staff are following standardized protocols by performing quality‑control assessments on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure that data entry is performed accurately and completely by all inspection station staff.
  • Maintain inventory of all required supplies and perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on power washer/decontamination unit.
  • Provide public outreach on aquatic invasive species.
  • Early morning, evening, and weekend work is required.
Non Lead Inspector Responsibilities
  • Perform boat inspector and decontaminator responsibilities according to state regulations and standard protocols.
  • Work independently or in pairs to inspect boats launching and leaving the reservoir, with regard to invasive species such as zebra/quagga mussels.
  • Provide public outreach on the aquatic invasive species topic by distributing printed material to those visiting the reservoir.
  • Boat inspection training will be provided.
  • Early morning, evening, and weekend work is required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Good driving record and ability to work weekends, early mornings, and late evenings.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent customer service experience working with the public.
  • Reliable and timely.
  • Ability to self‑motivate and work independently.
  • Valid driver license and safe driving record if the position requires driving a State‑owned vehicle;
    Motor Vehicle Records will be reviewed for workers with assigned or pool State fleet vehicles.
  • For Lead Inspector: willingness to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with boats, trailers, power washers, small engines, and/or heavy equipment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
