Department Information Temporary position (9 months or less) paying $18.00–$19.00 per hour. Employment starts 04/11/2026 and ends 10/11/2026.

Jumbo Reservoir near Crook, Colorado.
Position:
Watercraft Inspector & Decontaminator (Lead or Staff).
A customer-service based position that involves inspecting for invasive species such as Zebra and Quagga mussels, milfoil, and other plant species on boats and personal watercraft at an inspection point.
Specific Duties Lead Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) InspectorAs the site lead, responsibilities include:
- Perform boat inspector and decontaminator duties according to state regulations and protocols.
- Provide on‑the‑job training to inspection staff.
- Create schedules and ensure all shifts are covered during operational hours.
- Collect and verify accurate time‑keeping records for payroll purposes.
- Work with area work lead to resolve staff and customer challenges.
- Recommend hiring and firing decisions to the area work lead.
- Perform monthly quality‑control assessments to ensure staff follow standardized protocols.
- Ensure accurate and complete data entry by all inspection station staff.
- Maintain inventory of required supplies.
- Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on the power washer/decontamination unit.
- Provide public outreach on aquatic invasive species.
- Work early morning, evening, and weekend shifts.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform boat inspector and decontaminator duties according to state regulations and protocols.
- Inspect boats launching and leaving the reservoir, individually or in pairs.
- Provide public outreach on aquatic invasive species by distributing printed material.
- Report directly to the boat ramp supervisor.
- Receive on‑the‑job training in inspection procedures.
- Work early morning, evening, and weekend shifts.
- Good driving record; able to work weekends, early mornings, and late evenings.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent customer service experience working with the public.
- Reliable and timely.
- Ability to self‑motivate and work independently.
- Ability to work weekends, early mornings, and late evenings.
