Job Summary
The Lead Communications Technician will act as the on‑site coordinator and crew supervisor for voice and data installation projects. The Lead Comm Tech is responsible for ensuring job completion according to company and customer quality and safety requirements while maintaining the efficiency of the staff assigned to the project.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Consistently run major project crews and provide necessary training.
- Ensure adherence to Company and customer safety and quality guidelines; hold weekly safety meetings.
- Initiate performance‑related communications and alert the Project Manager when necessary.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager to maintain productivity, meet project budget, and ensure timely job completion.
- Accurately complete all IES COMMERCIAL and project paperwork, including timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, and tool transfers.
- Perform quality checks; coordinate moves and cut sheets for voice and data cross connects.
- Prepare red‑lined as‑built drawings.
- Serve as the main on‑site customer contact for questions and concerns; attend facility and construction meetings when required.
- Consistently demonstrate a detailed level of technical knowledge; troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise.
- Complete any additional responsibilities as assigned.
- High School diploma or GED equivalency.
- At least two (2) years of experience in telecommunications or a related technical field and ability to supervise others.
- Proficiency with the listed tools and instruments.
- Strong skill level in interpreting blueprints and other project documents, including specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
- Knowledge of universal communications color codes.
- Compliance with Company minimum driving standards.
- Ability to work at heights, off a ladder, and in confined spaces; lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to see and distinguish different colors, read small print, and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
- Willingness to travel within the branch or regional territory as needed.
- Regular attendance is mandatory.
