Facilities Specialist
Job Duties:
- Perform regular cleaning and maintenance of all museum areas, including restrooms, floors, surfaces, exhibits, offices, and common areas.
- Remove trash and recycling, replacing liners as needed.
- Clean and disinfect high‑touch surfaces such as handrails, tables, chairs, exhibit components, and doors.
- Spot‑clean spills, stains, and debris throughout the museum to maintain a presentable space.
- Maintain restroom cleanliness, restocking consumables (soap, toilet paper, paper towels) and addressing sanitation concerns immediately.
- Maintain common areas – restock breakroom supplies, keep conference rooms and storage closets organized.
- Perform regular deep cleaning as required.
- Assist with setup and breakdown for museum events, programs, and special requests.
- Provide basic AV support for event rooms and conferences.
- Maintain and organize janitorial supplies, reporting inventory needs.
- Support building exterior upkeep such as minor landscaping, window cleaning, power washing, and snow removal.
- Machine‑scrub and buff terrazzo floors.
- Respond promptly to urgent cleaning needs or maintenance requests from museum staff.
- Perform general maintenance duties including repairs of toilet facilities, heating and cooling systems, lamps, light fixtures, ceiling tiles, furniture, floor patches, door hardware, and painting of walls.
- Assist with replacement of HVAC filters.
- Perform routine preventative or predictive maintenance and repairs as requested.
- Act as on‑call for the History Colorado Center and Denver sites on a rotating basis, responding to emergencies by phone or onsite within a reasonable time.
- Complete documentation and checklists via History Colorado’s work order system.
- Help increase the aesthetic of buildings, reduce safety and utility costs, and improve overall patron experience.
- Perform other facilities maintenance items as needed to keep History Colorado properties in good condition.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required.
- Dependable transportation and valid Colorado driver’s license.
- Ability to lift over 30 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors for extended hours.
- Adaptability to a flexible work schedule and location as needed.
- Ability to think creatively, communicate effectively, solve problems proactively, and take direction.
- Willingness to assist the Facilities Department and community museums with duties as a team member.
- Strong management and organizational skills.
- Experience using technical equipment such as computers, printers, and proficiency with email, Google Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Word, and Excel.
- Successful completion of a criminal history background and motor vehicle check.
