Overview
A Boiler Operator with a Stationary Engineer Certification, positioned as Correctional Support Licensed Trades Supervisor I (CSLTS I) at the Denver Correctional Complex, responsible for ensuring safe and efficient plant operations and supervising inmate workers.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain safety and security of the facility and work sites, including conducting searches, monitoring inmate behavior, and administering restraints or use‑of‑force when necessary.
- Supervise and train inmate workers in boiler house and water treatment systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards and timely completion of tasks.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on boilers, chillers, generators, and associated equipment.
- Assist HVAC specialist with climate control systems and other building maintenance projects.
- Coordinate logistical support, maintain inventory control, and complete work orders and incident reports.
- Participate in inmate counts, transportation, and emergency response as required.
- Active Stationary Engineer Certification (or equivalent). License must be attached to application.
- Four years of experience in boiler operations involving preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.
- Eligible Colorado state resident.
- Self‑motivation, discretion, and decision‑making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Strong safety awareness and ability to respond to emergencies.
- Proficiency in working with inmates and maintaining order in a correctional environment.
- Physical strength and agility to climb stairs, ladders, and work in confined spaces.
- Resilience, emotional stability, and stress tolerance.
- Fluent in English, both oral and written.
- Must be 21 years old or older.
- Valid Colorado driver’s license and lawful driving record.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Clean criminal history; no felony convictions.
- Valid U.S. work authorization.
- Successful completion of basic training and defensive tactics modules.
- Willing and able to work rotating shifts, including nights.
