Job Overview
Utility Worker I assists with construction, maintenance, repair, and operational functions at the Arts Complex, 1345 Champa Street, supporting event set up, equipment handling, landscaping, snow removal, and other light to heavy physical labor as needed.
Responsibilities- Perform unskilled, light to heavy physical labor on construction, maintenance, and repair projects using manual and small power tools.
- Operate light‑weight equipment powered by small engines for maintenance, cleaning, and minor construction projects.
- Lift and empty heavy waste containers, operate hydraulic compaction units on city trash vehicles, wash trucks as needed.
- Set up and strike down events, transport chairs, tables, and other items.
- Assemble, move, remove, and relocate furniture, furnishings, and equipment; repair and store furniture articles.
- Perform landscaping and groundskeeper activities, including snow removal.
- Open to working in a variety of conditions, including getting dirty.
- Prioritize safety at all times.
- Able to work as part of a team and independently.
- No education requirement.
- No experience requirement.
- No license or certifications required.
On‑site at the Arts Complex, 1345 Champa Street. After‑hours and weekend work may be required for special events and snow removal.
BenefitsCompetitive pay ($20.06–$30.10). Full‑time benefits include a life‑long pension (vested after 5 years), 457b retirement, 140 hours of PTO in the first year plus 12 paid holidays, 1 personal holiday, 1 wellness day, and 1 volunteer day per year.
