Director of Engineering – Grand Hyatt Denver

At Hyatt, the Director of Engineering at Grand Hyatt Denver is responsible for maintaining the overall operation of the maintenance department and the appearance and working order of the hotel. This role reports to the hotel General Manager and requires independent work as well as collaboration with others.

• Maintain the exterior of the building, parking lot, and common areas
• Maintain all equipment in guest rooms
• Conduct monthly safety inspections and train staff on safety and emergency procedures
• Work with vendors and respond to emergencies
• Collaborate with corporate maintenance on remodeling projects or capital expenditure needs
• Apply overall maintenance knowledge and troubleshooting ability with skills in painting, HVAC, carpentry, equipment, and tool usage
• Review contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions with vendors, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors
• Requisition supplies and materials for construction projects
• Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals on work procedures, complaints, and construction problems
• Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients
• Plan, organize, and direct maintenance activities for structures, facilities and systems
• Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress and cost tracking reports
• Develop and implement quality control programs
• Inspect and review projects to ensure compliance with building and safety codes and regulations
• Collaborate with building code officials, planning/zoning officials and community design committees as required
• Manage utility systems and specify/evaluate equipment
• Maintain communications with Corporate Staff and coach employees to reflect Hyatt service standards

• Minimum 6 years progressive hotel or building management experience, preferably with Hyatt
• Experience in hotel pre‑opening preferred
• Service‑oriented style with professional presentation skills
• At least 6 years senior role within facility management
• Proven leadership skills
• Engineering/Facility Management degree preferred
• High energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leadership, effective communication skills and ability to improve the bottom line
• Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills in English
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Overall maintenance knowledge and troubleshooting ability in painting, HVAC, carpentry, equipment and tools
• Experience negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships

Salary range: $112,500 - $150,000, with opportunity for annual bonus.
