The Town of Rockvale is seeking a dependable, hardworking Equipment Operator / Public Works Maintenance employee to assist with the operation, maintenance, and improvement of town infrastructure. This is a part-time/full-time position with the opportunity to transition into a full-time career position based on performance, water certifications, and operational needs.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on outdoor work, operating equipment, and serving a small community.
Position SummaryThe Equipment Operator performs a variety of public works duties including operation of light and medium equipment, some road and facility maintenance, water system support, occasional snow removal, mowing/weed eating, and general municipal maintenance tasks.
Employees who obtain Colorado water certification (no wastewater) and demonstrate strong performance may qualify for increased pay, additional responsibilities, and advancement opportunities within the Town.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Operate town equipment including trucks, tractors, loaders, mowers, and maintenance equipment
- Assist with road support and drainage
- Support operation and maintenance of the municipal water system
- Perform snow removal and seasonal maintenance duties
- Maintain town facilities and public spaces
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance
- Respond to emergency or after-hours public works situations when needed
- Follow all safety procedures and municipal policies
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Experience operating equipment, machinery, or working in construction/public works preferred
- Ability to perform physical labor outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform repetitive physical tasks
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn
- CDL license
- Experience with municipal water systems
- Colorado water certification or willingness to obtain certification
