Custodial-Floor Technician
This is a full-time, 12-month, benefit eligible position that reports to the Custodial Supervisor. This is a non-exempt, hourly position. Hours of work are Tuesday – Friday 4:00 pm – 12:30 am and Saturday from noon to 8:30 pm.
Position SummaryThe Custodial Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining and restoring all hard and soft floor surfaces throughout the facility. This position performs specialized floor care including stripping, waxing, buffing, carpet cleaning, and preventative maintenance to ensure a clean, safe, and professional environment for staff, students, and visitors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform routine and periodic maintenance of floor surfaces including stripping, sealing, waxing, and polishing hard floors.
- Operate floor machines such as buffers, burnishers, scrubbers, and extractors.
- Clean and maintain carpeted surfaces using extraction and spot-cleaning equipment.
- Sweep, mop, and auto-scrub floors in hallways, classrooms, offices, and common areas.
- Maintain and restore tile, vinyl, stone, and other hard surface flooring.
- Remove floor finish and apply new coatings as required.
- Maintain floor care equipment in proper working order and report repairs as needed.
- Follow proper procedures for chemical handling, storage, and safety.
- Assist with general custodial duties as needed including trash removal, restroom cleaning, and event setup/teardown.
- Identify and report safety hazards, maintenance needs, or damaged flooring.
- Follow established cleaning schedules and preventative maintenance plans.
- Comply with all workplace safety standards and organizational policies.
- Knowledge of floor care techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to safely operate commercial custodial equipment.
- Understanding of cleaning chemicals and proper dilution procedures.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings or weekends when needed.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous custodial or floor care experience preferred.
- Experience operating commercial floor care equipment strongly preferred.
- Ability to lift 40–50 pounds and perform physical work for extended periods.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and operate equipment for long durations.
- Work is performed indoors and occasionally outdoors.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment noise.
- Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and pushing equipment.
- May require evening, weekend, or off-hour work to complete floor projects.
- Lift and move equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs.
- Push/pull heavy floor machines.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Repetitive bending, kneeling, and reaching.

The pay for this position is $20.00-$22.00 an hour. Although this is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, Colorado Academy reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Any wage differential that may exist for the position does not relate to sex, gender, or gender identity, but relates solely to a seniority system, a merit system, or relevant education, training and/or experience.
