Job Summary:

Coordinates standard and non-standard maintenance of facilities, exteriors, and grounds. Provides guidance on maintenance of buildings and equipment through the application of facilities management practices, services, and schedules or conducts repairs of facilities and amenities. Follows standard protocols for the disposal of materials including general waste, regulated/hazardous materials, or other applicable contents, and maintains appropriate licensure or permits for relevant regulatory parties.

Coordinates safety training for the inspection of and preparation for drills and facilities operations. Monitors and flags costs to ensure that budgets are met and improved upon in projects across the facilities management and that timelines of projects are maintained. Conducts standard and non-standard space and occupancy planning. Collaborates with technical support teams to provide technical support for relevant technologies within the facilities.

Essential Responsibilities:

+ Monitors the maintenance of buildings, equipment, and amenities by: using working knowledge of facilities management practices to proactively monitor the resolution of mechanical building problems (e.g., energy management, waste management, asbestos abatement, managing space moves and moving services, planning, space planning, and emergency management); collaborating with facility engineers to monitor and ensure the completion of repairs on building equipment, tools, machinery, and amenities to ensure they are in working condition;

and working alongside others to resolve standard and nonstandard preventive maintenance requests to maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environmental work area.

+ Supports compliance efforts by: following general application of standard protocols and regulations according to Title 22, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), California Department of Public Health (CDPH) to ensure the disposal of pharmaceutical, and hazardous waste (e.g., solid waste, biohazardous) materials is completed accurately; and independently interpreting broad guidelines to ensure required licenses and operating permits are maintained across the team in accordance with local, state, and federal regulation.

+ Maintains buildings and campus grounds by: coordinating standard and non-standard landscaping services with vendors to maintain the upkeep of grounds and public sidewalks within a specified area; and providing guidance and coordinating with landscape services to ensure service-level requirements are met.

+ Supports safety, inspection, and emergency preparation by: leading training with some assistance from others to coordinate and plan drills according to National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Life Safety Code, and other regulations that may apply, with local authorities and completing reports based on drill outcomes; and facilitating planned and unplanned inspection tours to ensure the efficient and uninterrupted operation of the facility.
