Seasonal Maintenance​/Grounds Worker

Purpose

The Grounds Maintenance Seasonal Yard Worker maintains school grounds in top condition to ensure full and productive use of district facilities. The worker will work under the direction of the Grounds Maintenance Lead and the Maintenance Supervisor. Responsible to:
Grounds and Outdoor Facilities Supervisor.

Salary: Maintenance Hourly Rate Schedule, Level 1

Classification of Employment: Non-Exempt

• High School diploma or equivalent, unless actively enrolled in high school.
• Valid Kansas driver's license.

• Maintain school grounds in top condition by assisting permanent employees.
• Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with all members of the school district.
• Work with a team or independently to handle tasks as assigned.
• Safely operate equipment and machinery as necessary.
• Comply with all district policies, rules and regulations.

• Ability to sit, stand and/or walk for prolonged periods.
• Ability to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, crawl, bend, turn and reach.
• Ability to climb ladders and balance above ground level.
• Work outdoors in all environmental conditions.
• Work in noisy and changing environments.
• Work in and around dust, fumes and odors.
• Lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
• Require regular attendance and physical presence at the job.

• Assist in promoting the safety, health and comfort of students and employees on school grounds.
• Keep all district properties neatly mowed and trimmed.
• Assist with seeding and fertilizing as necessary.
• Collect trash and clean areas as necessary.
• Prepare athletic fields for practices and games.
• Assist in painting of parking lots and playground equipment.
• Maintain equipment, checking oil and fuel prior to operation.
• Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all maintenance projects.
• Utilize all applicable personal protective equipment.
• Adhere to all district health and safety policies.
• Move equipment and materials within and between buildings.
• Other duties as assigned by the maintenance supervisor.
