Installation Technician, Field/Service Technician

Caption Call is looking for a caring, customer service‑oriented installer/trainer with a passion for helping people with hearing loss communicate with the world. This hands‑on position is responsible for installing the Caption Call phone in customers’ homes and training them to use it confidently. The schedule is flexible and this part‑time role is ideal for individuals who like to work independently and who enjoy interacting with a variety of people in their homes.

Hourly + piece rate. Hourly pay ranges from $12.22 to $19.52, based on location and experience.
Piece rate:
- $25 for each successful installation
- $25 for each successful priority service call
- $15 for each successful service call

- Install and troubleshoot Caption Call phones in customers’ homes
- Courteously train customers on phone usage and features
- Promote the Caption Call service
- Assist with lead generation activities as needed
- Guide other Caption Call activities and make recommendations for expanding the breadth and reach of the business
- Meet or exceed install/trainer expectations and maintain goals set by department management
- Complete service calls as assigned
- Accurately maintain customer records
- Submit required reports, invoices, and feedback on customer interactions
- Retrieve and clean phones of former customers
- Maintain adequate inventory of equipment and supplies
- Represent Caption Call at various events as assigned
- Adhere to strict compliance policies and maintain confidentiality of customer information
- Adapt to new responsibilities as necessary
- Other duties as assigned
Education:
Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
Skills and Abilities
- Provide excellent customer service
- Effective communication in English (reading, writing, speaking, listening)
- Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Ability to drive, travel via air as needed
- Tailor services to unique needs of individual customers
- Reliable, organized, and punctual
- Independently driven
- Adaptable to constantly changing environments
- Experience working with senior citizens
- Basic computer knowledge and experience
Physical Requirements
- Daily driving required; must have a reliable, licensed, and insured vehicle available at all times
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record required
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods in an office environment
- Ability to transport installation equipment into a customer’s home
- Dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, tools, and other components
- Regular and predictable attendance required
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
