Operations Engineer Chief, Class 7 – Ruby Van Meter/Smouse – Start Date July 1
Start Date: Jul 1, 2026
Location: Ruby Van Meter/Smouse
Salary: $23.93 per hour
Job Type: Full Time, 8 hour day, 260 day calendar
FLSA Status: Non Exempt
Physical Requirements: Constant standing and walking; frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs and carrying up to 10 ft; frequent use of telephone and computer.
Working Conditions: Frequent inside and outside, exposure to extremes of temperature/humidity.
Responsibilities- Serve as lead custodial staff in assigned facilities.
- Coordinate staff schedule and maintain inventories and supplies.
- Conduct basic building safety inspections, provide maintenance and repair to equipment and building facilities.
- Perform custodial duties and maintain cleanliness inside and outside the building/complex.
- Assist custodial specialist in preventive maintenance objectives, work schedule preparation and in annual performance evaluation of subordinate employees.
- Assist the director of custodial services and custodial specialists as needed.
- Communicate with operations staff to ensure proper heating, ventilation, and maintenance during all activities.
- Provide leadership to secure the facility each night and prevent loss of or damage to property or failure of mechanical equipment.
- Carry out all policies and procedures set forth for building personnel in operations.
- Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
- Maintain confidentiality and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.
- Assist with other duties as may be assigned.
- Three years of custodial experience.
- Two years of leadership experience.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and computer use.
- Knowledge of housekeeping practices and cleaning equipment operation.
- Knowledge of broiler room/geothermal system operations and related equipment.
- Leadership skills and ability to present a professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to demonstrate good judgment and promote a spirit of cooperation with others.
- Competency working in a culturally diverse environment.
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check, child and adult abuse registry check, and may require fingerprinting, drug and alcohol test, and motor vehicle record check.
