Job Overview
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine preventive maintenance and general repairs. The role serves a downtown Des Moines, IA class B office tower ensuring tenant and owner satisfaction. Participation in an on‑call rotation is required.
Responsibilities- Perform routine preventive maintenance and general repairs on building systems, equipment, and fixtures under the guidance of the Lead/Chief engineer.
- Replace lamps and/or ballasts as required in a timely manner.
- Perform plumbing repairs, door hardware maintenance and repair.
- Perform painting duties as required.
- Maintain and repair irrigation systems.
- Remove debris on a daily basis and perform seasonal outdoor duties as required.
- Maintain mechanical rooms, utility rooms and vacant areas in a neat and clean condition.
- Complete work orders as assigned on a daily or weekly basis.
- Participate in on‑call, after‑hours and weekend rotation.
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Minimum two years of experience in maintenance or a related field.
- Basic computer skills.
- Positive, helpful attitude at all times when interacting with building occupants.
- Working knowledge of building systems preferred.
- Pursuit of certification or licensing relevant to building operations.
- Boiler operator license (preferred).
- Knowledge of HVAC systems and ability to make needed adjustments and general repairs.
- Microsoft 365 software experience.
