Grounds Keeper​/Driver

Luther Park Community is a non-profit Senior Living facility that has been dedicated to providing quality services for mature Iowans in its beautifully landscapedcommunity in Des Moines since 1914. We currently have a unique, full-time opportunity for someone who loves variety in their daily responsibilities, loves working outdoors, performing basic maintenance duties and interacting with our residents while driving them to scheduled destinations.

Themain responsibilities of this position will be maintaining the campus ground sand assisting the maintenance technicians. This position will participate inthe on-call rotation.

Drivingresponsibilities will be on an as needed basis.

• Plantingand maintaining plants and shrubs around the campus
• Trimweeds, prune trees, rake leaves and general grounds upkeep
• Maintainparking lots and sidewalks
• Litterremoval
• Snow removal

• Assisttechnicians when needed with light plumbing, electrical and other maintenance duties
• Helpcomplete resident work orders
• Maintain office, shop, storage and mechanical areas
• Provideweekend and after-hour building coverage on an on-call basis

• Abilityto drive a bus and other vehicles while meeting Federal and State regulations
• Abilityto assist passengers while maintaining a high level of safety
• Strong communication and time-managements skills
• Compassionfor others
• Exceptional customer service skills

• High school diploma or GED
• Mustread, write, speak and comprehend the English language
• Basic understanding of maintenance practices and procedure in facility role,preferably in health care
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing or HVAC systems
• Familiarity with tools and equipment used in maintenance tasks
• Mustbe able to work under all types of weather conditions (heat, rain, snow,etc.)
• Basic computer skills for logging maintenance activities
• Excellent communication skills and ability to follow instructions
• Dependableand punctual with strong work ethic
• Positive attitude and willingness to assist others
• Abilityto work independently and as part of a team
• Musthave chauffer’s license, CDL or ability to get within 30 days of hire
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
