Position OverviewPerform custodial duties and, under general supervision, a variety of routine maintenance work in plumbing, selective electrical, carpentry, mechanical, event setup and takedowns or related work and Central Services warehouse activities support. Alternate work shift.
Schedule- 4 ten‑hour days
- Saturday – Tuesday: 9:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
The salary reflects the starting step (Step
C) and ends at Step M. It includes a 5 % King County compensation provision. As a new employee, based on annual increments, it will take 5 years to reach Step L and 11 years to reach Step M. This schedule does not account for future statutory increases.
- Perform various housekeeping, custodial, and maintenance related tasks to ensure and maintain proper cleanliness of facilities.
- Repair and replace various items including but not limited to light fixtures, switches, doors, hardware, painting and wall repair.
- Perform rounds, lock doors, close windows, turn off lights, replace burned‑out bulbs, turn AC and other equipment on and off.
- Move furniture, arrange tables and chairs for special events, collect and dispose garbage and trash, shovel snow and sweep and wash sidewalks on an emergency basis.
- Maintain and operate floor machines such as washers, vacuums and buffers; replace ballasts/lights and perform custodial services.
- Maintain parts and equipment supplies and maintenance records.
- Perform minor repairs on plumbing fixtures, lights and partitions/tables; clean clogged drains and sewer lines.
- May instruct other personnel in routine maintenance or custodial techniques.
- Receive, sort, deliver mail/packages, monitor incoming and outgoing deliveries as needed in Central Services areas.
- Perform related duties as required.
Skills and Abilities
- Identify and resolve minor maintenance problems.
- Inspect areas and ensure departmental/facility cleanliness standards are met.

- HS Diploma or GED equivalent, AND one year of experience as a Maintenance Custodian or equivalent.
- Two years experience in general or building maintenance.

Conditions of Employment- National Criminal Background Check may be required.
- This position is covered under the Washington Public Employees Association (WPEA) bargaining agreement.
