- Prepare and post monthly journal entries
- Reconcile bank accounts, including escrows and reserve accounts
- Maintain detailed supporting schedules for balance sheet accounts such as prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, mortgages, interest payable, real estate taxes, and tenant-related receivables/payables
- Reconcile and track capital activity
- Prepare journal entries for complex transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, and financing activities
- Maintain the fixed asset ledger and record depreciation entries
- Analyze lease commissions, tenant allowances, and capital expenditures for proper accounting treatment
- Partner with Property Management to prepare monthly variance analyses of operating revenues and expenses
- Work with senior accounting staff to support consolidated financial reporting for the multifamily portfolio
- Process owner distributions and lender draw requests
- Assist with tax return preparation and provide supporting documentation
- Support external audit requests and year-end tax filings
- Assist in the preparation and review of annual property budgets
- Participate in special projects and prepare ad hoc financial reports as needed
- Assist with tenant reconciliations and estimates in accordance with lease agreements
- 2+ year of accounting experience
- Prior experience in real estate accounting strongly preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required
