DescriptionAre you looking for a role where your analytical skills can make a real difference in people’s lives? If so, we want you on our team! We’re looking for someone to help our residential clients manage their property taxes.
You thrive on solving problems through analysis and enjoy communicating those solutions clearly to clients. You also appreciate well‑organized systems that help you manage deadlines effectively.
You can follow established processes but also recognize when it’s time to involve a legal professional—and you ensure issues are resolved promptly. Property taxes can be stressful for clients, and you understand their frustrations. You do everything possible to guide them through the process and achieve the best results.
While we are a law firm, we deeply value the expertise of our administrative professionals. This position offers a unique balance of legal and administrative responsibilities.
We help people save more and stress less. You want to be part of a team that:
- Solves the client’s problem
- Is results‑driven, not effort‑driven
- Focuses on solutions
- Puts the team first
- Acts responsibly and with integrity
This role centers on working with and through others—building relationships while adhering to established guidelines. We need an effective communicator who can motivate and reassure clients while being responsive to their needs.
You’ll interact with many different people, so being friendly and genuinely interested in their concerns is essential. A faster‑than‑average pace is common, and detail work is a major focus. Accuracy and timeliness are critical, especially when deadlines are involved.
This position requires following guidelines, structure, and policies closely while collaborating with clients, colleagues, and external partners.
Responsibilities- Prepare Legal Evidence for Tax Appeals: Most of your time will be spent creating evidence packages for residential appeals. You’ll follow established procedures to ensure accuracy and meet deadlines. While most work is in Cook County, you’ll also assist with appeals in collar counties and at the state level (PTAB).
- Build Relationships with our Residential Clients: You will help clients understand the tax appeal process, what our strategy is for their home, and guide them on how they can support a successful outcome.
- Develop Assessing Official Relationships: Occasionally, you’ll negotiate settlements in collar counties. Building professional relationships with local township assessors is key to success.
- Coordinate Between Clients, Appraisers, and Internal Team: Appraisals are often critical and time‑sensitive. You’ll ensure all parties understand benefits, costs, and timelines.
- Other administrative responsibilities: You may also be asked to support the administrative and legal teams as necessary by assisting with client correspondence, follow‑ups, and other administrative tasks as needed.
- Exceptional attention to detail; you take clear, concise notes.
- Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage a large workload within established guidelines.
- Skilled at escalating issues and driving resolution.
- Dependable team player with a collaborative mindset.
- 2–5 years of experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or in legal administrative support.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new technology platforms.
- Experience with Hub Spot and Microsoft Teams is a plus!
Applicants must live in or be within commuting distance of Des Plaines and be authorized to work in the US to be considered for the position.
Compensation$24 - $28 hourly
