Construction Project Manager - Government Construction
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee federal projects with a focus on effective project management, cost estimation, and team leadership.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate highly effective project management tasks including due diligence, design review, value engineering, defining subcontract scopes, negotiating contracts, establishing and controlling schedules, and reviewing and approving scope changes.
- Manage multiple projects along with a team of construction personnel on jobs ranging in size.
- Accurately estimate project costs and author project scopes to potential bidders.
- Coordinate field activities between ownership and the office.
- Maintain general conditions and job costing.
- Manage the entire project, including scheduling, purchasing, quality, and safety.
- Participate in pre-construction services, including estimating and value engineering.
- Supervise Project Engineer(s), Assistant Project Manager(s), and Construction Intern assigned to contracts or work orders.
- Negotiate financial disputes and change orders with owners.
- Serve as the point of contact for project management staff, architects, subcontractors, owners, and engineers.
- Document and negotiate changes that may affect project completion or contract costs with subcontractors and owners.
- Provide on-site supervision and coordinate with other subcontractors and parties on-site.
- Plan and manage all site activities by all sub-trades.
- Ensure projects align with high standards of safety and quality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 10+ years of construction project management experience, specifically in federal projects.
- Ability to make decisions under tight deadlines.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Understanding of construction law.
- Adherence to company policies and regulations.
- Customer service orientation.
- Completion of OSHA 30-hour training.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred but not required).
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of DES PLAINES, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $62.50/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
