Elementary School Assistant Principal

Duties

East Maine School District 63 is seeking an outstanding educational leader to serve as Assistant Principal of Apollo School in Des Plaines, Illinois, and at Nelson School in Niles, Illinois, for the 2026-27 school year. Apollo and Nelson both have about 500 students attending the school, ranging from kindergarten through fifth grade. Additionally, Apollo and Nelson offer a continuum of services, maintain high academic standards, and foster a relationally and emotionally healthy learning environment.

The ideal candidate will be an educator who demonstrates:

* Success in teaching and leadership roles.

* Minimum of four years of successful elementary school classroom teaching preferred.

* Effective communication, instructional leadership, planning, and organizational skills.

* Cultural competence and a strong commitment to equity and inclusion.

* High expectations for self and others, consistently backed by follow-through.

* Proven record of student-centered, people-focused leadership.

* Integrity, empathy, collaboration, and approachability.

* Sound judgment, a practical and empathetic approach, and the ability to foster a culture of achievement and respect.

* Supervise special education and related services staff

* Serve as the Local Education Agency (LEA) representative

* Documented history of success

Qualifications

Preferred Experience:

Prior successful experience in teaching, instructional coaching, assistant principal, or central office administration.

Candidates must possess or have the ability to obtain the Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator License General Administrative Endorsement or Principal Endorsement.

Salary/Benefits

The salary range for the position is $96,000 to $106,000, accompanied by a competitive benefits package.
