East Maine School District 63 is seeking an outstanding educational leader to serve as Assistant Principal of Apollo School in Des Plaines, Illinois, for the 2026-27 school year. Apollo is a community of over 500 students, ranging from kindergarten through fifth grade. Additionally, Apollo offers a continuum of services, maintains high academic standards, and fosters a relationally and emotionally healthy learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate Will Be An Educator Who Demonstrates- Success in teaching and leadership roles.
- Minimum of four years of successful elementary school classroom teaching preferred.
- Effective communication, instructional leadership, planning, and organizational skills.
- Cultural competence and a strong commitment to equity and inclusion.

- Proven record of student-centered, people-focused leadership.
- Integrity, empathy, collaboration, and approachability.
- Sound judgment, a practical and empathetic approach, and the ability to foster a culture of achievement and respect.
- Supervise special education and related services staff
- Serve as the Local Education Agency (LEA) representative
- Documented history of success
Prior successful experience in teaching, instructional coaching, assistant principal, or central office administration.

Des Plaines, Illinois, has a population of 60,675 and is near the north end of Chicago. Approximately 6 miles east of Lake Michigan, Des Plaines is surrounded by the Villages of Glenview, Morton Grove, Park Ridge, and Niles. Apollo is one of District 63's seven schools.
The salary range for the position is $96,000 to $106,000, accompanied by a competitive benefits package. Candidates must possess or have the ability to obtain the Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator License General Administrative Endorsement or Principal Endorsement.
