Compensation and EmploymentPart‑time faculty are paid on a lecture hour equivalents (LHE) basis. For most courses, the LHE is the same as a credit hour. LHE may be higher for courses requiring additional work such as grading or laboratory instruction. Rates for the 2024-25 academic year are $1191/LHE for faculty without doctorates and $1262/LHE for faculty with doctorates.
Part‑time faculty advance one step within the salary schedule after the successful completion of two fall & spring semesters where 3+ LHEs are taught in each semester.
Part‑time faculty are hired on a semester‑by‑semester basis with a reasonable effort to assign courses to more senior faculty who are fully qualified by education, training, and work experience. All assignments are conditioned on sufficient enrollment, and once a course starts the faculty member is expected to complete it.
