Special Education Teacher in Des Plaines, IL

Exciting new contract opportunities are available for Special Education Teachers for the  school year! Make an impact by supporting students in highly specialized programs in an engaging school environment. Positions include roles in Autism Self-Contained (RISE), Life Skills (AIM), and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) programs at the elementary and middle school levels.

Key Qualifications and

Experience:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification required
• Experience or strong interest in working with students with autism, significant developmental disabilities, or emotional and behavioral needs
• Familiarity with evidence-based practices for students with a range of learning profiles
• Strong skills in adapting curriculum and differentiating instruction
• Collaborative spirit and effective communication with educational teams and families
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive classroom atmosphere

Role Highlights:

• Teach in a self-contained RISE program for elementary (two positions) or middle school students (one position), supporting learners with autism
• Support elementary students in the AIM program, focusing on life skills and functional academics for students with low-incidence disabilities
• Provide SEL-focused instruction and interventions for students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs at elementary or middle school levels (two positions)
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Collaborate with support staff, therapists, and administrators to ensure comprehensive support for each student
• Contribute to a team that values continuous learning and professional growth
