Duties and Responsibilities
- Construct a course syllabus for each assigned course, consistent with the generic syllabus, stipulating objectives, content, and grading criteria.
- Prepare course presentations and instructional materials using active‑learning methods and a variety of instructional strategies; deliver instruction in person on campus or online.
- Meet with course and laboratory teams at scheduled times.
- Instruct, advise, consult with, and evaluate the performance of enrolled students.
- Maintain clear records on student performance, including evaluation and grading.
- Participate in department meetings and comply with departmental decisions regarding instructional matters.
- Participate in departmental and institutional assessments of student learning and related surveys.
- Comply with institutional procedures.
- Attend and participate in divisional meetings, committees, task forces, and other institutional organizations as assigned.
- Schedule office hours, holding at least one per week for every three credit hours taught.
- Engage in professional development to maintain professional skills and improve the quality of student learning.
Master's Degree in TESL, TESOL, TEFL, Applied Linguistics, or a related field that includes 18 graduate semester hours in TESL or TESOL.
- Availability to work both daytime and evenings.
- Experience teaching Composition courses.
- Experience teaching at a community college.
- Availability to teach in the evening and/or on weekends.
- Availability to teach on both the Des Plaines and Skokie campuses.
- Availability to teach online.
