Educational Consultants Sought
The North Cook Intermediate Service Center (ISC) is located in Des Plaines (soon to be Mt. Prospect) and collaborates with 39 public school districts and two special education cooperatives across the North Cook region.
We are seeking experienced, professional, and innovative consultants with demonstrated expertise in one or more of the areas below to join our consultant roster. Consultants are engaged when districts and schools request customized, job-embedded professional learning or ongoing support for leaders and staff.
Consultative engagements may range from a single day to multi-week or multi-month projects, depending on district needs.
Individuals interested in serving as North Cook consultants are invited to apply. Please submit a resume, cover letter, three letters of recommendation, and a sample of work related to the consulting area for consideration and interview.
Consultant StatusConsultants are independent contractors and are not employees of the North Cook ISC. They do not receive benefits. All work produced under contract remains the intellectual property of the consultant unless otherwise specified in a project agreement. Contract opportunities are contingent upon district demand and ISC needs and may be accepted or declined by the consultant on a per-project basis.
Current District Demand AreasThese represent areas of frequent and active request across partner districts:
- Diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB)
- Standards-based grading
- Curriculum development and alignment to Illinois Learning Standards:
- English Language Arts
- Social Sciences
- Physical Education and Health
- Student assessment analysis and data use, including Illinois Assessment of Readiness, Illinois Science Assessment, KIDS, ACCESS, MAP, and School Report Card data
- School improvement planning and implementation processes
These represent additional content areas and specialties that may be matched based on evolving district needs:
- Curriculum development and alignment to Illinois Learning Standards:
- Mathematics
- Science
- STEM
- Visual Arts
- Career and Technical Education (CTE)
- A minimum of five years of demonstrated experience in the identified area(s) of expertise
- Evidence of successful experience designing and facilitating professional learning and/or consultative support for educators, school leaders, or districts
- Demonstrated ability to translate knowledge into practical, applicable strategies that support adult learners
- Experience working within K–12 school systems, with an understanding of district and school-level priorities and structures
- Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and adapt to varying contexts
- Ability to work collaboratively, respond to feedback, and adjust support based on client needs
