Job Description
As a Process Safety Engineer at Honeywell, you will be responsible for overseeing and directing the organization's Process Safety engineering efforts. You will ensure the highest standards of health and safety for employees, compliance with safety and environmental regulations and industry standards, and the implementation of best practices.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement comprehensive HSE strategies that align with the organization's mission, ensuring a culture of safety, health, and environmental responsibility.
- Ensure that the organization complies with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, permits, and certifications.
- Lead / participate in hazard reviews and Pre‑Startup Safety Reviews of manufacturing activities.
- Conduct risk assessments and safety audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards, providing engineering solutions and preventive measures.
- Lead / participate in investigations of process‑related incidents.
- Conduct training on process safety related topics; develop / update training materials as needed.
- Generate periodic reports on the status of various process safety‑related activities; follow‑up with management to help assure timely completion of activities.
- Work with Pilot Plant Engineering Design and Construction group to help develop engineering design standards related to process safety system.
Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, a candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or someone with protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.
Qualifications- 2-5 years of experience in process engineering, project engineering or operations in chemical or petrochemical processing, refining, or R&D.
- In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices.
- Proficiency in HSE Management Systems.
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and strategic planning abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or a related field.
- PSM experience.
- Passion for promoting a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
- Strong people skills, time management and personnel training programs, ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment, continuous learning and development.
The annual base salary range for this position is for Des Plaines, IL. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
