Senior Relationship Manager, SBA

The Senior Relationship Manager, SBA is responsible for delivering customized and comprehensive solutions that support new SBA 7A and Express loan initiatives. The role involves monitoring, analyzing and guiding post‑closing SBA servicing and liquidation activities throughout Wintrust Financial Corporation.

Responsibilities
  • Generate new small business relationships for Wintrust Community Banks through the use of SBA loan programs and Wintrust treasury management services.
  • Create and maintain relationships with community and business bankers within Wintrust Community Banks, and introduce other Wintrust partners to small business contacts, prospects and bank customers when appropriate.
  • Evaluate SBA loan requests using a thorough knowledge of loan policy, guidelines, procedures and SBA standard operating procedures.
  • Commence underwriting, SBA eligibility and closing processes when appropriate.
  • Analyze industries to assess associated risks and recommend suitable financing structures.
  • Monitor tickler system reports (Moody’s) for accurate tracking and reporting of borrower‑required documentation, including financial statements, tax returns and annual site visits.
  • Takes proactive steps to remedy exceptions, keeping them to a minimum.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of fair lending issues, rules and regulations that directly impact the commercial lending area (e.g., RegulationB, FACT Act, HMDA, CRA).
  • Demonstrate effective time management by balancing multiple priorities within individual workloads.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of management, including credit administration personnel, loan operations staff and related departments.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a business‑related field such as accounting or finance.
  • 5+ years combined relationship management, lending, commercial underwriting and small business banking experience.
  • Excellent time‑management, organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with interpersonal and customer‑service skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to problem‑solve and comprehend SBA manuals and procedures.

Compensation

The estimated salary range for this role is $98,000 – $132,000, along with eligibility to earn an annual discretionary bonus.
