Major Responsibilities- Provide input on the technical performance of lab tests to coordinate and standardize testing procedures and methodologies throughout the ACL system. Evaluate, recommend and develop new methodologies, procedures, instrumentation to ensure that ACL remains on the cutting edge in providing timely, quality care for patients at a cost-effective price to Advocate Aurora Health facilities and ACL clients.
- Coordination and standardization of testing procedures and methodologies throughout the ACL system.
- Implementation of testing methodologies to ensure continued service line success and consistency with Advocate Aurora Health philosophy and strategic goals.
- Development of collaborative relationships with Advocate Aurora Health medical directors, physicians, laboratory directors/managers, clinicians and clients utilizing ACL services.
- Development and implementation of policies, procedures, and standards which quality management, Accrediting Organization, CLIA, CDC, OSHA, CAP, AABB and FDA guidelines.
- Serves as representative on various corporate, hospital and professional committees, task forces and councils.
- Participates in planning and administering approved programs which provide laboratory services to other system sites and outreach clients.
Medical Technologist (MT) certification or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification or Specialist in Blood Bank certification.
Education Required:
Master’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences or related field. Experience
Required:
Typically requires 10 years of experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting. Includes 3 years of management experience in management of staff, budgets, and multiple laboratory functions. Advanced degrees or certification and extensive experience in the appropriate discipline (Microbiology, Immunology, Virology, Molecular or Blood Bank).
- Proven ability to assure compliance with regulatory, accrediting and licensing agency requirements.
- Current knowledge of medical and technical advancements to plan for future growth and development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of leadership and staff.
- Strong organizational, decision making and critical thinking skills.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) or similar products and laboratory information systems.
- Ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously.
- Frequently lifts up to 10 lbs. and will occasionally be required to lift up to 20 lbs.
- Must be able to sit, stand, and/or walk most of the workday.
- May be exposed to the following hazards: mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive, radioactive, and infectious agents.
- The position requires travel; therefore, the incumbent will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
- May be exposed to human blood and body fluids so must wear protective clothing as needed.
- Exposed to normal office environment.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
