Retina Consultants, Ltd. is a leading ophthalmology practice specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of retinal conditions. With a commitment to providing exceptional patient care, our practice is dedicated to delivering the highest standard of ophthalmic services. We are currently seeking motivated and customer-oriented individuals to join our team as a Patient Coordinator. This role will be based in our Des Plaines office with some shifts scheduled at other offices.

The hourly pay range for this role is $17-$19 per hour based on work experience.

Job Summary:

As a Patient Coordinator at Retina Consultants, Ltd., you will play a vital role in ensuring efficient and effective communication between our practice and our patients. Your primary responsibility will be to handle incoming calls, provide information, and assist patients with scheduling appointments, addressing inquiries, and directing them to the appropriate department or healthcare professional. Experience in the medical field is not required.

Responsibilities:
  • Answer incoming calls promptly and professionally, providing exceptional customer service to patients and addressing their inquiries or concerns.
  • Schedule appointments for patients, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the booking process.
  • Collect and update patient information accurately in the electronic medical records system.
  • Assist patients in navigating our services, providing information about our ophthalmology practice and the specialized retina services we offer.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals within the practice to ensure seamless patient care coordination.
  • Triage calls related to ophthalmology and retina, providing appropriate guidance and escalating urgent matters to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations when handling patient information.
  • Strive to meet or exceed call center performance metrics, including call handling time, call quality, and patient satisfaction.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a professional and empathetic phone manner.

  • Proficiency in using electronic medical records systems and other relevant software applications.
