Retina Consultants, Ltd. is a medical and surgical retina practice providing unmatched care to the Chicagoland area for over 35 years. The team specializes in adult retinal disease and pediatric retinal disease.

We are dedicated to giving our patients the highest level of care and compassion as we navigate them through the often-frustrating world of insurance, referrals, and prior authorizations. The insurance verification and prior authorization specialist is a vital member of the Retina Consultants team and works in conjunction with the clinical, billing, and front desk team to verify insurances and obtain authorizations for procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain insurance verification to confirm active eligibility and benefits
  • Initiate pre-authorizations for procedures and request office visit referrals
  • Contact insurances via phone and online insurance payer portals
  • Update patient accounts with insurance/demographic information
  • Work closely with patient and insurance providers to gather and verify insurance information
  • Use EMR software like My eClinicalworks and EPIC.

Qualifications
  • High school or equivalent (Required)
  • Working knowledge of insurances, referrals, and prior authorizations
