Job Summary
We are seeking a mid-level Mainframe Developer with strong fundamentals in core mainframe technologies. This role focuses on development and support of batch applications using COBOL, JCL, and DB2. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in maintaining and supporting mainframe systems and can independently handle day-to-day development and production support activities.

Key Responsibilities
Mainframe Development

• Develop and maintain programs using COBOL, JCL, and DB2

• Work on enhancements and defect fixes for existing applications

• Write and modify JCL for batch processing
Production Support

• Monitor batch jobs and resolve job failures (abends)

• Support day-to-day production issues and troubleshoot application errors

• Perform basic root cause analysis and implement fixes
Database Support

• Work with DB2 queries for data retrieval and updates

• Support basic query tuning and debugging

Required Skills (Must-Have)

• Hands-on experience with:
o COBOL
o JCL
o DB2

• Understanding of mainframe batch processing

• Ability to troubleshoot and debug application and job failures

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Good to Have (Optional – Not Mandatory)

• Exposure to VSAM

• Basic knowledge of Unix/Linux or Shell scripting

• Familiarity with PL/SQL or SQL

• Experience in banking/cards domain

Candidate Profile (Critical for Market Fit)

• 3–5 years of hands-on development (not just support coordination)

• Comfortable with production support and maintenance work

• Strong in fundamentals vs. overly broad skillsets

• Able to clearly explain basic concepts (no heavy dependency on tools/prompts)
